Masquerade

I hope you enjoy this collection, mostly
written over the past five years. The
sonnet length poem is so satisfying as
its form and length complement how
I seem to think and write.

The twenty-five poems cover a wide
range of human experience, including
the courageous platoon from WW1
bringing up the rear that have been
seen before in my earlier book –
‘The Great War – One Hundred Years On’.
They remain so important to me I trust
you will excuse their second appearance.

The title ‘Masquerade’ came to me lately
as it occurred to me that the poems here
secretly wish they could be accepted as
sonnets!
