Limericks

PREFACE

Limericks are such fun to write and are poetry’s equivalent of a raucous joke.  Normally quite rude and accusative, they can be extremely funny.  How many of mine reach that pinnacle is for you to judge.   It may be – not many!

Many of the wittiest limericks ever written are obscene and scathing but I’ve trodden a different path and rely more on absurdity and innuendo.  The best of limericks are masterpieces of contorted language and have a panache that makes you want to shout “Bravo!”
